Say hello to the new and improved Clyde Hatchett...who's only a level-four nothing. He's on a (seemingly never-ending) quest to get back to his life in Glaton. And now, all that stands in his way are the Empire-hating Carchedonians, a death cult, and a traitorous party member. Oh, and a mythical city that very probably doesn't exist.

When Montana first started playing in iNcarn8, his new game life, he just wanted to be one of the good guys for a change. But despite his impressive stats and incredible heroics, even his followers are just plain scared of him. Trouble keeps pouring down Montana, even in the remote, supposedly safe holding he's building into his dukedom.

The most dangerous night of the year is upon Coggeshall. Fiends' Night, when the boundary between Vuldranni and hell is the weakest. And so hell comes out to play. To survive the night, Montana must put his entire holding on lockdown and turn hastily made cave apartments into an actual, inviting home for thousands of Coggeshall residents. Most of whom don't really know or like each other. And all of whom have different ideas of what needs to be done on Fiends' Night.

He's tried to ignore them for too long. But the long-simmering conflict between Montana's holding at Coggeshall and the Night Goblins who also occupy the valley is about to boil over. Usually, goblins aren't anything to write home about: an enemy without much size, intellect, or weaponry. But these goblins? Well, that's just not the case. These are goblins with limitless resources, never-before-seen tactics, and horrifying monsters at their disposal. Worst of all, they don't fear death in the slightest. They just might force a good guy to become what he has always struggled to defeat.

Clyde Hatchett and the rest of the Skull & Thrones better play their cards right - otherwise their newly formed guild will fall in a war with the Iron Silents, the overpowered immortals fond of spawn-camping and, well, anything that puts them ahead. So much for resting on laurels, huh?

Up until now, Montana's journey really only went one direction: up. But now he's back at square one, stuck on top of a mountain with only the most basic gear to help get him back to Coggeshall. It's going to be a long walk. But not a boring one.

We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who's currently in his bedroom. Possible zombie sightings aside, he's finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too - not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana's little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens.

"Has your life here been so difficult? You seem to fail upward at every opportunity." So says Careena, the hag teaching Clyde Hatchett how to use magic. It certainly doesn't feel like that to Clyde, who's still got a day job scraping mud (at least he hopes it's mud) out of monster pits. And yet, Clyde's found himself at the center of a massive conspiracy to kill the Emperor. He's the only one with proof that could save the man, and take down an entire network of corrupt nobles, evil slavers, and power-hungry despots.

Clyde Hatchett hadn't planned on running away to become a pirate - that's just what happened. Now he's on a seaside mission far from Glaton, desperate to find the only mage capable of freeing Clyde from the corpse-king taking over his body. Get ready for a nonstop joyride full of secrets, betrayal, loot - and mermaids.

No one is more shocked than Ginger Mitchell, former call girl, current PI, at how well this whole crime-fighting thing is going. In the short time since she returned home to Portland, she’s taken down an entire crime ring and exposed a corrupt police department. Not bad for her first year on the job. Ginger Mitchell accomplished the impossible; the former call girl and now sort-of private investigator got into all of this to bring her mother’s killer to justice. But Darlene is still on the loose. It was bad enough when the woman was manipulating Ginger from afar, but now Darlene is in Portland wreaking up-close-and-personal havoc under the assumed identity of Isabelle Dunkirk.

"Ist dein Leben hier übermäßig schwierig gewesen? Du scheinst bei jedem Scheitern dennoch nach oben zu fallen." Das sagt Careena, die Hexe, die Clyde Hatchett den Umgang mit der Magie lehrt. Für Clyde fühlt es sich auf jeden Fall nicht so an. Er hat immer noch einen Tagesjob, bei dem er Schlamm (zumindest hofft er, dass es Schlamm ist) aus Monstergruben kratzt, und dessen "Diebesgilde" sich mehr um das Backen von Keksen kümmert, als darum, ihn vor einer rivalisierenden Bande zu schützen.

Clyde Hatchett: der letzte Überlebende. Nun, er ist der letzte überlebende Elf. Es ist verwirrend, kein Mensch mehr zu sein. Aber das einzige lebende Mitglied der Keksgewerkschaft zu sein, hat seine Vorteile. Zum Beispiel muss er keine Schichten beim Keksebacken übernehmen. Niemand sagt Clyde, was er zu tun hat. Keiner... Die Keksgewerkschaft hat dir eine QUEST angeboten: Die Gilde wieder aufbauen Baue die Gilde wieder auf, indem du bis zum Ablauf von einer (1) Woche mindestens acht (8) Mitglieder in gutem Ansehen hast.

Was tust du, wenn sich das Spiel um dich herum zurücksetzt? Gerade als Montana dachte, er hätte das Leben in Vuldranni durchschaut, wird ihm der Boden unter den Füßen weggezogen. Er ist wieder einmal allein, aber jetzt ist er im Fadenkreuz des Mannes, der Kaiser werden will, und eine ganze Reihe von Menschen zählt auf Montana, um für sie einen sicheren Hafen zu schaffen. Montana hat nur eine Möglichkeit, sein Ziel, ein Herzogtum zu gründen, tatsächlich zu erreichen: Er muss Nikolai aus dem Gefängnis befreien. Einem Gefängnis, aus dem noch nie jemand lebend entkommen ist.

Montanas neues Leben in Vuldranni, der mittelalterlichen Fantasy-Spielwelt, in die er hineingeraten ist, ist nicht ganz der ruhige, ausgedehnte Angelausflug, den er sich erhofft hatte. Aber man muss zugeben, dass es ihm ziemlich gut geht. Jetzt ist er Montana Coggeshall, Erbe eines Herzogtums. Wenn er seine Leute rechtzeitig nach Osterstadt bringen und es einfordern kann. "Heute Erbe, morgen Schachfigur" ist ein herzerfrischendes LitRPG-Abenteuer durch unerforschtes Gebiet.

Gestern noch war Ben ein Kleinkrimineller, der die New Yorker Oberschicht ausgenommen hat. Heute hat er ein neues Gesicht, einen neuen Namen und eine neue Welt, in der er sich zurechtfinden muss. Und Ben denkt, dass er dieses Mal vielleicht seine Fähigkeiten zur Entwaffnung und Täuschung nutzen kann, um anderen Menschen zu helfen. Vielleicht. Einem mittelalterlichen Stadtwächter dabei zuzusehen, wie er einen zehn Meter großen empfindungsfähigen Schleimbrocken abwehrt, der aus der Kanalisation hochgekrochen ist, bringt einen dazu, seine Lebensentscheidungen zweimal zu überdenken.

Ein ruiniertes Leben. Ein gebrochenes Herz. Er dachte, es sei das Ende, und seine Waffe war bereit, um dies sicherzustellen. Aber ein merkwürdiges Angebot seines einzigen Freundes kommt in buchstäblich letzter Sekunde. Die Neugier holt ihn ein, und er findet sich in iNcarn8 wieder, ein Spiel, das behauptet, ein ganz neues Leben zu sein. Als Montana, der überlebensgroße Krieger, hat er nun noch ein letztes Mal Gelegenheit, sein Leben in Ordnung zu bringen.

Er hat schon zu lange versucht, sie zu ignorieren. Doch der seit Langem schwelende Konflikt zwischen Montana und den Nachtgoblins, die das Tal ebenfalls bewohnen, droht überzukochen. Normalerweise sind Goblins nichts Besonderes: ein Feind ohne viel Größe, Intellekt oder Waffen. Aber diese Goblins? Nun, das ist einfach nicht der Fall. Diese Goblins verfügen über grenzenlose Ressourcen, noch nie dagewesene Taktiken und schreckliche Ungeheuer. Das Schlimmste aber ist, dass sie den Tod nicht im Geringsten fürchten.

Eine endlose Nacht, voll von hungrigen Schatten. Die gefährlichste Nacht des Jahres ist über Coggeshall hereingebrochen. Die Nacht der Unholde, wenn die Grenze zwischen Vuldranni und der Hölle am schwächsten ist. Und so kommt die Hölle zum Vorschein. Um die Nacht zu überleben, muss Montana sein gesamtes Lehen abriegeln und eilig gebaute Höhlenwohnungen in ein echtes, einladendes Zuhause für Tausende von Coggeshall-Bewohnern verwandeln. Die meisten von ihnen kennen und mögen sich nicht wirklich. Und alle haben unterschiedliche Vorstellungen davon, was in der Nacht der Unholde getan werden muss.
