In the seedy underbelly of the nation’s capital, a drug deal gone wrong ignites a firestorm which threatens to pull the entire city into a gang war. Special Agent Emily Slate, still investigating the possibility she may still have living family is brought in to help determine who is killing criminals and why. Someone is looking to position themselves as the new leader of the criminal underworld. The only question is who would be so brazen? And can she stop the backlash before innocent people are caught in the crossfire?

When an innocent hiker is gunned down in the middle of the woods, Special Agent Emily Slate finds herself back in the town where it all began, looking for answers. After some harrowing cases and some narrow misses, Emily knows that an FBI Agent’s job is never done as she returns to the small mountain town of Stillwater. What at first looks like an accident, is soon revealed to be part of something more sinister: A hunter, using humans as his targets. The only problem is, Emily can’t prove it. But she’s been in this job long enough to know a predator when she sees one.

A string of arson cases brings Emily to the historic city of Charleston right as she’s in the middle of trying to find the woman who killed her husband. Her personal investigation will have to wait, however, because the local community is on edge, having already lost two firefighters in these tragedies. But before she can get very far, more blazes erupt throughout the city, causing a panic within the ranks.
