Lady Elizabeth can't stop worrying about Major Earl Monroe as he flies dangerous missions over enemy territory. As if that isn't enough, her butler has gone missing, and ladies' knickers are disappearing from washing lines. Things come to a head when a local man is found shot to death. The constables declare it a suicide, but Elizabeth has her own ideas about that.
