Holmes und Watson fahren an Bord eines niederländischen Schiffs über die Nordsee nach Rotterdam. Das stürmische Dezemberwetter wird dabei zu einer Herausforderung und bringt erhebliche Gefahren mit sich.

Mit der Bahn fahren Holmes und Watson weiter nach Süden. Unterwegs erörtern sie Hintergründe und Hypothesen zum Diebstahl, zu möglichen Motiven und zum potenziellen Täterkreis. In der Zwischenzeit wurde in Wien die Innenstadt abgeriegelt.

Roboter Elmer muss zum 100.000-Kilometer-Service. Da die Crew der Ultimo-1 beschäftigt ist, werden Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson beauftragt, ihn in die Service-Station im Meer auf einem Wasserplanet zu begleiten. Dabei stoßen sie auf einen ermordeten Kybernetiker.
