Meg Lowman was always fascinated by the natural world above her head—the colors, the branches, and, most of all, the leaves and mysterious organisms living there. Meg set out to climb up and investigate the rain forest tree canopies—and to be the first scientist to do so. But she encountered challenge after challenge. Male teachers would not let her into their classrooms, the high canopy was difficult to get to, and worst of all, people were logging and clearing the forests. Meg never gave up or gave in.

What do you think makes someone special? I certainly didn’t think I was, but this last week has made me question everything. I was rescued from the clutches of the prince, only to be trapped again. Continuously fighting hopelessness and fear—no amount of insane magic could make sense of my family taking on an entire legion of bad guys. My family had never seemed all that special, but our true strength was being unlocked by all of the magicals that had become our family and the legions of darkness that had become our shared enemy.

I have always felt compelled not to allow women’s research to be further behind, as we live in a patriarchal society. For the Christian female, we are even further behind with well-articulated research on Christian women’s sexual health, because we are just emerging from decades of purity culture in the Western, White, patriarchal church systems. We need all women’s voices to bring their stories to the table, so here is mine. As a Christian, psychotherapist, and PhD in women's sexual and spiritual health, these are the stories I have listened to for the past 15 years.
