Jack London was one of the most prolific and imaginative writers America has ever produced. This collection includes eight masterpieces that showcase London's literary versatility and his genius at creating memorable, one-of-a-kind characters: "Moon-Face" - a study of extreme motiveless antipathy; "The Leopard-Man's Story" - passion and mayhem under the big top; "Local Color" - a wandering polymath might be too smart for his own good; "The Minions of Midas" - a tale of terrorism perhaps more disturbing today than it was 100 years ago; and much more.

This book is a collection of Jack London's short stories about his experiences sailing and seal hunting in the Pacific Ocean during the late 1800s. An additional adventure looks at life along the Sacramento River. A special section describes the different types of sailing vessels, and a glossary helps the listener understand nautical terms.

First serialized in "Outing" magazine, "White Fang" was published in 1906. The story takes place in Yukon Territory, Canada, during the Klondike Gold Rush at the end of the 19th century, and details a wild wolfdog's journey to domestication.

"White Fang" is a companion novel (and a thematic mirror) to London's best known work, "The Call of the Wild", which is about a kidnapped, domesticated dog embracing his wild ancestry to survive and thrive in the wild.

The story takes place in the extreme conditions of the Yukon during the 19th century Klondike Gold Rush, where strong sled dogs were in high demand. After Buck, a domesticated dog, is snatched from a pastoral ranch in California, he is sold into a brutal life as a sled dog. The novella details Buck's struggle to adjust and survive the cruel treatment he receives from humans, other dogs, and nature. He eventually sheds the veneer of civilization altogether and instead relies on primordial instincts and the lessons he has learned to become a respected and feared leader in the wild.

Jack London worshiped strong and virtuous heroes, and his stories give great weight to the inevitable triumph of good over evil. His powerful and gripping saga of van Weydon's capture by a seal-hunting ship and the ensuing tangles with its dreaded captain, Wolf Larsen, makes this a classic American tale of peril and victory.

White Fang is a unique novel that explores the relationship between man and nature in this three- part novel by Jack London. Part one is written in the perspective of a man who, along with a partner, are transporting a body back to the city. In the dead of winter, with no food and low on ammunition, the two men are confronted by a cunning she-wolf who lures most of their dogs away one by one. Eventually, one man is killed by a hungry wolf pack and the other must learn try to survive as the wolf pack is on his tail.
