In book 17 of the series, Tess and Tony are asked to chair the annual Halloween event, which once again, will feature a televised therapy session conducted by paranormal psychologists Tim Rivers and Tom Masters. While participating in a ghost therapy session is always a hoot, Tess is feeling overwhelmed and distracted this year with all the changes in her life and she wonders if she'll be able to handle everything that is coming down the pike as efficiently as she hoped she would.

When they realize that the body is one incident in a series of unusual occurrences, they decide to throw a little sleuthing in with their holiday plans.

What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.

It's December in White Eagle, and Tess and Tony are preparing for a huge Christmas celebration. The town is planning their annual festival, which has Tess and Tony struggling to stay ahead of things. In addition to their work with the festival, Tess fills in for the mail carrier who took over her route, and Tony spends long days with Shaggy working to finish the development of their most recent video game. In spite of their busy schedules, things seem to be going smoothly until an unexpected visitor comes to town with an unusual request.

Ainsley Holloway had come to Gooseberry Bay to find answers about her past. She’d come to find an explanation for the dreams that haunted her after the death of the cop who’d both rescued and raised her. And she’d come to identify the family she couldn’t remember but knew in her heart she’d once belonged to. Ainsley hoped that by finding these answers, she’d also find healing. She hoped that once she’d resurrected the memories buried deep in her mind, she’d find peace.

In book 28 in the series, Abby finally has a moment to sit down with the manuscripts her friend Gayla left to her in her will and realizes that the murder Gayla wrote about in her stories might actually be a fictional accounting of the real unsolved murder that were still baffling police a decade after it was a front page story in the local news.

In book 17 of the series, Tess and the entire gang who work and volunteer at the local wild and domestic animal rescue and rehabilitation facility, are up in arms when they find out that the annual fireworks show has been moved to a small lake nestled in the center of a large meadow not all that far from the shelter. When Alyson has a potentially fatal accident on the Ferris Wheel, the gang is convinced that someone is out to make sure they don't discover the cover up that runs so deep that even highly respected town residents are involved.

When a long dead ghost leads Alyson to a treasure map days before Thanksgiving, she enlists the help of her friends to follow the clues. As they dig into the century old mystery, they discover a legend regarding a relic that many believe once possessed life sustaining power.
