Turns out, she had been given the wrong address but does find a dead body at the corrected address. As Kate sorts out whether she has a Black Widow on her most recent case, Simon tries to help a homeless man, who ends up in the morgue—now one of Kate’s newest files because that poor man’s body had been found in the broken-down house. That’s nothing compared to what else she finds on the premises.

Self-sabotage isn’t a concept Xavier is familiar with, until he ends up at Hathaway House—his application sent in with his buddy’s. When Xavier’s application was accepted, but his friend’s wasn’t, Xavier struggles with success. Even his arrival at Hathaway is bittersweet, knowing his friend has been rushed back to the hospital. Tilly, a patient coordinator at Hathaway House, witnesses Xavier’s arrival, her heart tugging at his obvious sense of guilt.

Coming back home to work in the local hospital suits Dr. Cameron Wingford. Buying land from an old woman who’d needed the money cements his plans. Then the old woman’s granddaughter returns home, and all the rumors begin—rumors that connect her to some weird event at the hospital every Halloween, an occurrence he had yet to experience, as he’d just moved there in November of last year.

With funding problems a nagging issue and completely overshadowing his stay at Hathaway House, Timothy finds it hard to do anything but drive himself forward as fast and as hard as he can—even against doctor’s orders. But he wants to make the most of his time here, and knowing his stay could be rescinded at any moment is an added stress he doesn’t need.
