It's the winter of 1995, and the Winchester household is more doom and gloom than mistletoe and merriment. Young Bay, Clove and Thistle are anything but happy. They're facing their first Christmas without their fathers, and no matter how hard their mothers try, they just can't seem to get the girls to embrace this festive time of year.

It's the summer of 2002, and Winnie Winchester is a normal mother. She has the same highs, lows, and fears as any other mother of a 14-year-old girl. Of course, since she's a witch - and her daughter can talk to ghosts - those fears are amplified to an unnatural degree. When camp counselor Donna Wilder goes missing, Winnie volunteers her services (and those of her sisters and persnickety aunt) so the Winchester witches can take over the extended weekend camp.

Avery Shaw is having a bad week. First, she had to cover a story on a barricaded gunman who likes to dance naked in his window. Second, she's receiving death threats with her morning newspaper. Lastly, and most importantly, her mom keeps vetoing her outfit choices. It's all in a day's work for this hardworking, if easily distracted, reporter. Avery Shaw is hot on the trail of the story, even if it means tangling with her hot ex-boyfriend - the county sheriff - and the equally hot, if slightly shadier pawnshop owner down the street.

That's on top of Aunt Tillie, the diva of the story, who has not only an evil twin but an eviler one, too.

Christmas is here, but the Winchester witches aren't exactly teeming with good cheer. Well, they are, but it's not the sort of Christmas cheer Aunt Tillie wants waiting for her under this year's tree. When Aunt Tillie finds out her great-nieces want to separate for Christmas Day - forgoing the family's annual tradition - she decides to teach them a little lesson. Of course, since she's Aunt Tillie, her dose of retribution comes in the form of her favorite holiday Christmas stories.

Avery Shaw is living the dream.... Kind of.

She's officially moved to her dream house, and her boyfriend Eliot Kane is making her host a housewarming party to show off the new digs to her family. All is going well–other than the endless arguments over food and hiding from Avery's family, of course–until one of Avery's enemies comes calling.
