Avery Shaw has taken on her fair share of jerks. Often, she’s considered the jerk when she takes them down...a role she gladly relishes. Now, though, she’s taking on a whole faction of jerks. It seems a battle of the sexes is brewing in Macomb County. A local shock jock, a man who believes women should be home tending children and keeping the house clean while men bring home the bacon, is on trial for sexually harassing his underlings.

A series of storms hits, and the Michigan populace starts turning downright dangerous. Aisling is convinced the storms are magical in origin. Of course, because she’s prone to theatrical fits, no one believes her...until the storms hit too close to home, and Aisling herself is in danger from the one person she trusts above all others. The storms, you see, don’t affect reapers, but those they love are in a heap of danger.

While she’s on the mend, she starts tracking information on a group of people working in the area.

Charlie Rhodes is back on her feet and ready for action. Luckily for her, the Legacy Foundation officially has its first job in weeks, and they’re on the hunt for...werewolves. It seems two campers have gone missing, the campsite littered with strange animal prints. Charlie is excited for adventure, but sometimes, wishes are more dangerous than they seem.

There’s nothing Avery Shaw loves more than a challenge....at least when it comes to tracking down a story. The challenge she’s facing this time is the one thing she might not be able to overcome, though. Vacation. Mystic Caravan Circus is heading to the West Coast, and while everyone is happy for the change of scenery, there's a pall settling over the group. Poet and Kade are in a good place and planning for a change, but it's something Poet can't focus on because she feels as if someone is watching...and whoever it is has evil in his or her heart. The festival location is different, and instead of space, the circus denizens have festival workers and artisans on every side. They're open and exposed, and hiding their secret has never been more important.
