Izzy Sage is settling into her new life despite the pall hanging over her past. While the memories of the catastrophe that took her parents when she was a child remain elusive, she finds she’s comfortable in her new environment...even though she happens to have taken up the same position her father held when he was killed. She’s the new death gate operator, which means she’s in control when souls are ferried to the other side. She literally controls death...and it’s not a comfortable spot to be in.

The wraiths are back, and their primary goal appears to be getting their hands on Aisling. They've enlisted other supernatural help this time, and when gargoyles literally start dropping from the sky, Aisling has no choice but to be honest.

A series of storms hits, and the Michigan populace starts turning downright dangerous. Aisling is convinced the storms are magical in origin. Of course, because she’s prone to theatrical fits, no one believes her...until the storms hit too close to home, and Aisling herself is in danger from the one person she trusts above all others. As a cop, Griffin Davenport is used to putting his life on the line. What he’s not comfortable with is being a threat to the people he’s supposed to be helping. The storms, you see, don’t affect reapers, but those they love are in a heap of danger.

Twila thinks everything is going to be fun and games even though she has one daughter, two nieces, and one mischievous aunt to contend with. She's focused on cooking and having a good time...until a roving troupe of renaissance performers make camp on the Winchester property and trouble starts brewing. When the head of the group starts making predictions - and, unfortunately, gets left behind - Twila has her hands full.

Camping is supposed to be a peaceful and relaxing time...unless you're Avery Shaw, of course. No, when you're Macomb County's most intrepid reporter, camping is akin to murder...or a very slow and painful death by disease-carrying bugs. That's what Avery thinks as she takes a well-earned vacation with her boyfriend Eliot Kane. When the duo stumbles across a body at a local festival, Eliot has to force Avery to ease up on the suspicion and embrace the vacation decadence. She's out of her coverage area, after all, and she's supposed to be taking it easy.

Senior year is finally here, and Zoe is ready to move forward. She and her werewolf boyfriend Aric are back on solid ground, and Zoe is ready to finish what she started - both academically and personally. The Academy is still in operation, but their leadership is listless and Zoe is steering clear. She has new roommates, and new drama, but all Zoe is focused on is getting out of Covenant College alive.

College was supposed to be all about booze and boys. For Zoe Lake, though, it's all about monsters and mayhem. An incoming freshman at Covenant College, Zoe is excited to meet her roommates and attend classes. There's only one problem: Covenant College isn't all it's purported to be.

The primary election is almost here, and Avery Shaw is in her glory. Her boss has unleashed her on the leading candidates - including two of whom she downright loathes - and Macomb County's leading reporter (and pot-stirrer extraordinaire) is about to turn the election on its ear. She just needs to find a story first. When her nemesis, Tad Lancaster, loses a volunteer, Avery sniffs out a bigger story...or at least she thinks she does. She has a pile of documents, too many insidious ideas to wrangle, and a long-suffering boyfriend who can do nothing but shake his head.

Avery Shaw has the world at her fingertips...and a pile of dead Santas near the railroad tracks. Interestingly, she’s more focused on the Santas than her personal life, but only because she’s been warned that a proposal is imminent from her live-in love Eliot Kane and she needs to look somewhere else - anywhere else will do - rather than accept what he’s trying to offer. Avery never pictured herself married but it appears it might be happening...no matter how she tries to dodge and weave. The Santas make an enticing distraction, so Avery throws herself in with gusto.

Halloween is Avery Shaw’s favorite time of year. What’s not to love? Slasher movies, hot chocolate, and corn mazes. She’s addicted to them all. During a visit to one of those mazes, she runs across several men trying to kidnap a teenage girl. In true Avery fashion, she intervenes...resulting in a severe injury. While she’s on the mend, she starts tracking information on a group of people working in the area.

There’s nothing Avery Shaw loves more than a challenge....at least when it comes to tracking down a story. The challenge she’s facing this time is the one thing she might not be able to overcome, though. Vacation. That’s right, not only is Southeastern Michigan’s busiest reporter off work for a week....but she’s also on the receiving end of a visit from her boyfriend’s mother. Eliot Kane is tough as nails but he’s obviously nervous about the two most important women in his life crossing paths.

Mystic Caravan Circus is heading to the West Coast, and while everyone is happy for the change of scenery, there's a pall settling over the group.
