Questo primo romanzo del "Ciclo di Venere", del 1934, opera meno famosa dell'autore di Tarzan si inserisce nel filone della costruzione di un mondo utopico/distopico, filone iniziato da H. G. Wells nella Macchina del Tempo nel 1902.
