A classic Big Book study with Joe McQ and Charlie P. Following, that is, another Big Book study with Joe McC and Charlie P. This item has been formatted for effective use by AA Groups. The formatting will help listeners keep track of what they have listened to and find their place when they resume listening or are looking for a subject or section. For efficient use by AA groups and members, the Big Book studies are divided into chapters, which are given meaningful titles based on subject - which often is the section of the Big Book under discussion.

This is a very historic recording. First, Dr. Bob gives his last talk before his death later that year. Then Bill recounts his own story and the story of AA up till that time. In telling AA's story, he emphasizes the role of money and the dangers it presents. He describes the situations and events that gave rise to various AA traditions.

Mary Pearl T Understanding and Applying the 12 Steps of Alanon features funny stories about becoming honest about harms done resisting, making amends, and then enjoying relief when you do. She talks about her gradual spiritual awakening as she grows in Alanon.

Ernest Kurtz talks about various topics of Alcoholics Anonymous by referring to letters written by AA Co-Founder Bill W.

Popular recovery speaker Mary Pearl T talks about relationships and relates them, often humorously, to the traditions. Lots of great stories. Great fun.

Speaking to an enthusiastic AA crowd, Father Joseph Martin talks about AA and then proceeds to talk in order about the 12 Steps. A very good example of Father Joseph Martin's excellent AA message.

Father Martin gives an extended version of his famous chalk talk to a live audience. Excellent presentation about alcohol, alcoholics, and alcoholism. Serious factual information given with some good humor sprinkled in.

A very good AA talk that has been popular for decades. This talk was given at the same Roundup as Chuck Chamberlains New Pair of Glasses. This is a really good AA talk.

Great insights into the 12-step process, with depth and humor.

In telling his recovery story, Chuck weaves into it the topic of surrender. He talks about his drinking and descent into alcoholism. His complete powerlessness to either control his drinking or stop for good. How he got sober and then learned to rely on his Higher Power through surrender.

After Bill had accumulated significant sobriety a celebratory dinner was held in New York City at which Bill gave an AA talk. (Bill drank for 17 years and staying sober for an 17 years was a notable milestone not only to him but to Lois as well.) Bill talks about the role that Ebby played in getting Bill interested in sobriety and the role of Doctor Silkworth in helping him stay sober.

Getting sober in the US Marine Corp, the spiritual history of AA, maintaining our spiritual condition, practicing steps 10 and 11, the spiritual life, Alcoholics Anonymous' spirituality, AA's singleness of purpose are some of the topics discussed in this audiobook.

Chapter 1 - Steps One, Two, and Three. Chapter 2 - Steps Four, Five, and Six. Chapter 3 - Steps Seven, Eight, and Nine. Chapter 4 - Steps Ten, Eleven, and Twelve.

Two great speakers alternate back and forth, talking about AA. They each tell a short version of their stories. Then, they talk about the Washingtonians, Dr. Carl Jung, and Rowland Hazard. The history of AA is talked about as the spiritual roots of AA. They talk about sponsorship and taking the steps. There are lots of stories and experiences in the fellowship.

This was a momentous occasion. First, Bill officially transfers the leadership of AA to the General Service Conference. Then he introduces Lois, who speaks for almost 10 minutes. Then Bill Introduces Ebby who speaks briefly. And then Bill Introduces Sister Ignatia. She says some nice things and invokes God's blessing on AA and everyone AA touches. Bill Tells his story and the story of AA from the beginning.

He likens spiritual awakening to waking up for the day. Our Old ideas are similar to the dream world of sleep. Sobriety and spirituality are the real world we wake up to. He talks about spiritual awakening in historic terms. How Rowland Hazard found out from Dr. Carl Jung that he would need a spiritual awakening to recover from alcoholism. Sandy talks at length about Dr. Carl Jung and the importance of spirituality for happiness, contentment, and sobriety.

This talk is very general, and is relevant to all sorts of addictions. As a recovery speaker, Bob Earll was sort of a Swiss Army knife. His message fit Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as Adult Children of Alcoholics. Though an Alcoholic, the drug addiction part of his alcoholism enabled him to speak to Narcotics Anonymous. This talk is at a Cocaine Anonymous event, and his opiate use would have qualified him to speak to Heroin Anonymous.

Wynn Laws is the author of the Big Book Story: Freedom from Bondage, 4th Edition on Page 544. This recording is very much in the spirit of her story in Big Book, but much more, she gives more detail and tells other stories about sobriety. She talks about her institutional work. Wynn pioneered work in California women's prisons. At the time of this talk (1973), her mother is living with her. Her mother is the person she had the difficulty removing resentment against. At the time of talk, they were happily living together.

Learn to overcome the perfectionism and self-hatred trap. Understand the dangers of sobriety after five years and how to get past that difficult period. This audiobook includes lots of great stuff from a great alcoholism and addictions counselor.
