Georgie Eliotwell has, since childhood, written poems. Some were intended as songs—but Georgie is a terrible singer and knows little about music, so they remain a kind of hybrid of poem and song—able to be spoken, but wanting to be sung. They are "pongs." There are two quite long, comical poems in this book that were never intended for singing. The rest are "pongs". Georgie would have liked to have fronted a rock band, but at almost 73 years of age has accepted that that bird has flown.

I was inspired to publish this mainly by my granddaughter. I had been writing for a few years already. The material was on three-by-five notebooks. My granddaughter gathered these notebooks and wanted to put them in a book for our family. I personally believe that the Holy Spirit was involved in some, if not all, of these writings. They are about the constant battle between good and evil or darkness and light. For those who believe, it is an inspiration to continue and share belief when appropriate. Maybe it will inspire someone to turn to God and find the peace in his light.

The lyrics came from the Lord Jesus in the Holy Bible. I have had these poems since 2015. He would wake me up at different times during the night with lyrics. While I was cooking, hanging out with friends, I would stop in the middle of whatever I was doing and jot them down. The pandemic has been a life-changer for all of us. It has made a lot of us stronger, but it's also been exhausting. The feeling of worry over new variants and lockdown remains lingering. We've discovered new things, even new hobbies, and tried our best to keep things busy during self-isolating periods. Lockdown Poetry is a compilation of poems—old and new—selected by the author to fit the theme of lockdown.

My poetry is at times raw, sensuous, and evocative, and guarantees a stirring of all senses. Some poems will melt your heart or arouse you; others will leave you with a myriad of acute emotions. Others will make you smile, even bring tears to your eyes. Some, I hope, will provide comfort in knowing you are not alone, even when life is not always kind. I see us all as clay on a potter's wheel. Life’s trials represent the reshaping of who we are, and that reshaping is never ending. My poetry reflects that truth as an expression of my experiences.
