Bambi: A Life in the Woods was written by Austrian writer Felix Salten and first published in 1929. It is the story of Bambi, a roe deer, whose wide-eyed curiosity leads him to explore all the wonders of the forest. He is enchanted by the songs, scents, and all the diverse creatures who live in the trees alongside him. But within these moments of discovery lies the ever-present danger of predators—one predator in particular: man.

The Giant Horse of Oz (1928) is the twenty-second in the series of Oz books created by L. Frank Baum and his successors. The tiny kingdom of the Ozure Isles, perched on five islands in Lake Orizon, surrounded by high mountains in a remote region of Munchkin Land, has little contact with the outside world—of Oz. The evil witch Mombi has turned her malice in the Ozure direction. After kidnapping Queen Orin, Mombi left a fire-breathing lake monster named Quiberon in Lake Orizon to keep the natives prisoner.

Betsy Bobbin and her mule Hank find themselves on the shores of Oz after a storm. While trying to find their way home, they wander into the Rose Kingdom and are held prisoner by the Royal Gardener. Just in the nick of time, Shaggy Man falls through the roof of the greenhouse and tries to convince the Gardener to let the pair go, using his powerful Love Magnet. Unable to convince them, the trio is instead banished with Ozma's cousin, Princess Ozga, in tow.

The House at Pooh Corner is the second book about the adventures of the thoughtful bear Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends. A particular feature of the book is the introduction of a new character, the ebullient Tigger. Fortunately for Pooh, Tiger dislikes honey, but it is later discovered that he likes Malt, which can be found in abundance at the house of Kanga and Roo.

This anthology of thirty-five children's poems was first published in 1927. It is the second collection by Milne of children's poetry, following When We Were Very Young, which was released in 1924. Now We Are Six is notable for the appearance of the lovable bear, Winnie the Pooh who is featured in several poems and whose adventures are described in the Winnie The Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner.

Upon waking up in the Emerald City, Dorothy discovers that Princess Ozma is missing. In Quadling Country, Glinda finds that her magical Great Book of Records is also missing. She sends a message to the Wizard for help, but the Wizard cannot find his magic tools either. A search party is formed to track down the dear princess and all the missing magic. Over in Winkie Country, Cayke the Cookie Cook is missing her diamond studded golden dishpan and enlists the Yips advisor, Frogman, to assist her in locating it. Where has all the magic gone and what will become of Princess Ozma?

The story is an ingenious retelling of a popular myth in which an inanimate image of a creature becomes alive through the ardent desire of its owner. In this case, it is a toy rabbit that is brought to life by a fairy after supplying loving support to a sick child.
