"Moi, ce que je préfère dans les vélos, c'est la sonnette", dit Petit Ours. Tout petit tigre a besoin d'un vélo ! Et pour que tout se passe bien, il doit apprendre plusieurs choses au préalable. Pas seulement où se situent les freins, mais aussi les règles de circulation les plus importantes. Et bien sûr, apprendre à rouler avec prudence. C'est exactement ce qu'il fait dans ce livre. Un jour, l'amitié entre Petit Tigre et Petit Ours fut mise à rude épreuve. En effet, Petit Tigre a rencontré Petit Cochon, ils se sont goinfrés de pâte à gâteau et ont joué ensemble - et bien vite, Petit Tigre a décidé d'emménager chez Petit Cochon. Il en avait presque oublié Petit Ours, qui restait désormais tout seul à la maison. Mais " presque" seulement... Janosch nous parle avec humour de jalousie et d'amitié.

Petit Ours et Petit Tigre rêvent du "bonheur sur terre" - à savoir la richesse. Et où se trouvent généralement les trésors ? Dans la terre bien évidemment ! Alors, ils creusent et en cherchent partout. Janosch raconte avec ses dessins au charme incomparable ce que les deux amis trouvent au cours de leur recherche, comment ils finissent par devenir riches puis tout perdre l'instant d'après, et comment ils s'estiment malgré tout heureux à la fin.

"Quand on a un ami, on n'a rien à craindre !" Chaque enfant sait que Petit Ours et Petit Tigre sont copains comme cochons. Ensemble, ils sont incroyablement forts, l'un aussi fort qu'un ours et l'autre aussi fort qu'un tigre. Dans leur petite maison au bord de la rivière, ils vivent confortablement. Un jour, Petit Ours trouve une caisse qui embaume la banane de tous côtés. Dessus est écrit "Panama". Alors, Petit Ours et son ami Petit Tigre partent pour le pays de leurs rêves.

Petit Tigre décide de montrer à Petit Ours comment traverser la rue. Pourtant, lui non plus ne sait pas comment s'y prendre et c'est donc monsieur Castornez qui s'y attèle : "quiconque marche à pied est un piéton", "la bordure marque la fin du trottoir" ou encore "attendre que TOUTES les voitures se soient arrêtées avant de traverser", leur dit-il.

Un jour, Petit Tigre tombe malade. Petit Ours accourt pour aider son ami. Il l'accompagne même jusqu'à l'hôpital. L'auscultation et la radiographie sont sans appel : une rayure a glissé ! S'ensuit une petite piqûre, des beaux rêves, et tada ! Petit Tigre est comme neuf après son opération. Rien de si grave ! Une des plus belles histoires des indéfectibles Petit Tigre et Petit Ours de Janosch, car elle soigne notre mal à l'âme.
