Peter Rabbit has no appetite, which is very unusual for him. After thinking about it, Peter decides it is loneliness affecting him. He decides to leave the Old Briar Patch and see the Great World, starting at the Old Pasture. After a close encounter with an old nemesis, Hooty the Owl, Peter discovers that he is still lonely. He runs into Old Jed Thumper who wants nothing more than to chase Peter away. Peter also discovers that Old Jed Thumper has a charming young daughter, Little Miss Fuzzy Tail, who Peter falls for. Their relationship quickly blossoms.

Sammy really doesn't want to see them hurt, he just wants to make torment them. Enter Chatterer the Red Squirrel, who also lives in the Green Forest and can be as troublesome as Sammy Jay. In The Adventures of Sammy Jay, Chatterer and Sammy Jay match wits and show off their bad attitudes toward one another.

Just So Stories is a collection of stories written by Rudyard Kipling in 1902. He developed them during one of his many journeys to Africa. He told children wonderful accounts of how the animal kingdom's eccentricities came about. The collection of stories came to be known for their wordplay and insistence of placing the wisdom of children at the heart of his stories.

In The Adventures of Peter Cottontail, Peter Rabbit doesn't like his name and tries to find another that has more prestige. His friends think he is silly and devise a scheme to show Peter the problem with changing his name. Peter learns his mistake and changes his name back.

Beatrix Potter's Tale of Peter Rabbit first appeared in 1902 and has remained a classic children's favorite ever since. Peter was named after a pet rabbit that Beatrix had as a child, and she held the character in especial regard.

In this book, Burgess chronicles the antics of Chatterer the Red Squirrel, who's known throughout the Green Forest as a trouble maker. After nearly being caught by Shadow the Weasel and Redtail the Hawk, Chatterer decides to leave the forest for a new home. His curiosity and carelessness soon get him into trouble when he is caught by Farmer Brown's boy and becomes his prisoner. He soon realizes that freedom is much more important than anything else and that people are not always what they seem at first.
