一方で、約10年間、早稲田大学ビジネススクールの教授を務めた。育成熱心な指導者として教え子からの評価も高かったが、徐々に大学組織やMBA制度そのものへの違和感を抱き始め、2016年に教授を退任した。
昨年末には顛末を著書『結論を言おう、日本人にMBAはいらない』につづり、その赤裸々な内容は賛否両論の嵐を巻き起こした。
