第2回は、ローランド・ベルガー日本法人会長の遠藤功氏と、ローソン会長CEOの玉塚元一氏が「日本人にMBA（経営学修士）は必要か」をテーマに激論を交わす。 遠藤氏は外資系コンサルティングファームのトップを務め、「現場力」という概念を世に広めたことでも知られる。
一方で、約10年間、早稲田大学ビジネススクールの教授を務めた。育成熱心な指導者として教え子からの評価も高かったが、徐々に大学組織やMBA制度そのものへの違和感を抱き始め、2016年に教授を退任した。
昨年末には顛末を著書『結論を言おう、日本人にMBAはいらない』につづり、その赤裸々な内容は賛否両論の嵐を巻き起こした。
対する玉塚氏は、「イノベーターズ・ライフ」でも語られたとおり、海外ビジネススクールに留学したことを契機に外資系企業に転職し、その後、経営者としての道を切り開いた。いわば「MBAの成功者」である。
