Surviving in the wild takes a great deal of strength. Often faced with frozen tundra, sweltering deserts, humid jungles, perilous mountains and fast-flowing rivers, Megan Hine is no stranger to perilous conditions. Whilst leading expeditions and bushcraft survival courses, and in her work on television shows such as Bear Gryll's Mission Survive and Running Wild, she has explored the corners of the globe in pursuit of adventure.

On January 20, 2003, a thunderous crack rang out and a 100-foot-wide tide of snow barreled down the Northern Selkirk Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. More than a dozen skiers and snowboarders were thrust down the mountain, buried beneath several tons of rock-hard snow and ice in the Durrand Glacier Avalanche. A heroic search and rescue ensued. Among those buried was Craig Kelly—“the Michael Jordan of snowboarding”—a man who had propelled the sport into the mainstream before walking away from competitions, to rekindle his passion in the untamed alpine wilds of North America

Roger Lockshier enlisted in the US Army in April 1966. After completing Airborne (Paratrooper) Jump Training at Fort Benning GA, he was assigned to Aviation Battalion 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell Kentucky, December 1966. In December of 1967 the 101st Airborne Division was transferred to Viet Nam. Lockshier was a Crewchief / Doorgunner with the 101st Airborne's Black Angels Huey Helicopter Gunships assigned to provide combat support to the 101st Airborne and 5th Special Forces MACVSOG. He returned to the States in December of 1968.
