E non è la prima volta che ci poniamo questa domanda: ha cominciato Dante con la ‘serva Italia’; poi d’Azeglio con gli ‘italiani da fare’; e ancora, i ‘santi, poeti e navigatori’; gli ‘italiani nuovi’ fascisti o ‘gli italiani brava gente’. Urliamo questo slogan in un paese dai confini incerti, diviso tra nord e sud, est e ovest, città e campagna.

La seconda guerra fredda vede dittature e regimi assediare i paesi democratici: l'epicentro dello scontro è l'Europa, le armi preferite sono ingerenze politiche e ricatti strategici, i duelli più duri avvengono nel cyberspazio, e l'Italia è uno dei più vivaci campi di battaglia. Neanche il papa è indenne da quanto sta avvenendo. La Russia di Putin e la Cina di Xi vogliono trasformare l'Europa in un terreno di conquiste, politiche ed economiche, al fine di far implodere NATO e UE, allontanando quanto più possibile gli Stati Uniti dai loro alleati.
