Wondering whether comedy leads to things like health issues, alcoholism and dysfunctional families, Ignatius marvels at comedians’ ability to take any life tragedy and turn it into 10 new minutes of material. Ignatius additionally discusses the ways comedy has changed from the days of his idol Lenny Bruce, when comics got arrested for cursing on stage.

In Mucho Macho, Diego Camargo tackles relationship issues such as how women can remember every minute detail from years ago, but still can’t figure out where they parked their car. Camargo further theorizes that the real reason that men won’t ask for directions while driving is because of their inability to multitask. The Colombian comedian does admit, however, that despite their bravado, Latin men are actually scared to flirt with women due to a fear of rejection.

In this day and age if it were all heavy it wouldn’t be a comedy special, it would be a depression special, and Alonzo Bodden is very aware of this. That’s why he goes back and forth, from heavy to lightweight, because he knows we need a break from news in comedy. Police description might be “big, scary black guy” but he’s regularly on NPR. How scary could he be? He isn’t afraid to talk about topics like slavery, then cell phones, the #MeToo movement then millennials, Kanye and Taco Bell and a little bit about Israel too.

Sin F/X is a blend of stand-up and vivid storytelling complete with the artist’s signature sound effects. Miky McPhantom discusses topics such as the negative impact of social media on human intelligence, the differences in aging between men and women, and how he prefers science over politics and religion (science never lies). Sin F/X also pokes fun at the infamous border wall with the story of a Mexican coming to the USA and joining the army.
