Surviving in the wild takes a great deal of strength. Often faced with frozen tundra, sweltering deserts, humid jungles, perilous mountains and fast-flowing rivers, Megan Hine is no stranger to perilous conditions. Whilst leading expeditions and bushcraft survival courses, and in her work on television shows such as Bear Gryll's Mission Survive and Running Wild, she has explored the corners of the globe in pursuit of adventure.

After her plane crashes, a 17-year-old girl spends 11 days walking through the Peruvian jungle. Against all odds, with no food, shelter, or equipment, she gets out. A better equipped group of adult survivors of the same crash sits down and dies. What makes the difference?

How did they do it? By their ingenuity, their courage, their willpower, all the resources that we carry within us and of which we are not necessarily aware. On July 4, 1999, Marlin Bree was caught in the storm of the century that ripped through the boundary waters of Minnesota and across the Canadian north shores of Lake Superior. Winds on the lake were clocked at 100 miles per hour in a gale that many dubbed the "green storm" because of the unusual color of the sky.
