Rob MacAulay has followed the flight of seabirds all his life, as well as the elusive nature of quantum field theory. He is a brilliant physicist, famed for solving the Unity Theory, a tall, gentle man with glasses and a tweed jacket. And he is framed as a terrorist. Anaroo is an airship slave, destined to spend her days running on a treadmill, winding the great springs of the Scarlet Albatross. When a storm threatens to sink the ship, Anaroo and her fellow slaves seize the opportunity to escape. Now, at last, she can go home. However, the airship nearly sank for a reason - violent unrest among the island kingdoms below. The world is changing, and the surviving inhabitants of the Scarlet Albatross will need to cooperate to survive.

After having her sweet sixteenth birthday party ruined thanks to the birth of her newborn baby sister, Princess sees an old friend who's baby brother happened to also be born on the anniversary of his moms death. Frustrated, these two old friends decide to run away together, only to unexpectedly find themselves lost in a world that's not their own. After meeting some strange new friends, and making some even worse enemies, the two eventually find themselves forced into having to decide on whether to continue on the path that could lead home, or abandon that road for another path.
