A teenager living in the suburbs of Rochester, New York, he became exposed to an entirely new way of life, and friends who were enjoying more freedom and less parental guidance.

Darrin Bush was born and raised in Las Vegas. He attended Saint Joseph elementary school, Bishop Gorman High School and the University of Nevada at Reno. In 1970 he began his working life in the hospitality industry at the Sahara and Frontier hotels, where he was Room Service Manager, Food and Beverage Manager and Executive Slot Host.
