The wonderful natural beauty of the national parks, the scenic Highway No. 1 or San Francisco, which already had a special attraction in the gold rush days - the "California feeling" and the appeal of the incredible diversity of the country is omnipresent. From the beautiful coastal city of San Diego, the route goes to three very different national parks: Joshua Tree National Park, the "Wonderland of Rocks", the lonely desert landscape of Death Valley and the green paradise of Yosemite National Park with its steep rock faces and thundering waterfalls.

Las Palmas De Gran Canaria - the metropolis of the Canary Archipelago. A city with several faces, in the middle of the Atlantic. With a romantic old town, a harbor district and an endless beach with a promenade. The pulsating life of Las Palmas contrasts with the quiet and rural island. Plaza Santa Ana, lined with palm trees, is the focal point of Vegueta, where spiritual and secular power has lived since the Conquista. The square dominates the Santa Ana Cathedral, named after the patron saint of the Spanish conquistadors, an imposing magnificent building made of brown natural stone.

The Chobe region in the far north east of Botswana is well known for its fascinating nature. Its national park was named after the Chobe River one of the most important tributaries of the Zambesi that leads into the nearby world famous, Victoria Falls. The Chobe River acts as a central gateway to numerous villages as well as to the national park's various safari lodges. Unlike many other countries in Africa, tourism in Botswana attracts a particularly exclusive and well-off clientele. The advantages of this are soon apparent.

The Kalahari is a unique habitat with a great variety of flora and fauna. This comparatively small semi-desert is the last retreat for the legendary Bushmen who are determined to preserve their ancient culture for future generations. An ideal starting point for safaris is the Deception Valley Lodge on the border to the Central Kalahari Wild Reserve. The hike through the dry savannah led by the Bushmen gives unique insights into the culture and way of life of the legendary Bushmen, who have lived in harmony with nature for over twenty-five thousand years.

Year after year, Namibia's Etosha National Park attracts thousands of visitors. Approximately 22,000 square kilometres in size, Etosha is a special wildlife experience and its magnificent flora is unique among all the other wildlife parks in Africa. It also has the reputation of being one of the major wildlife sanctuaries for a wide variety of Africa's animal species, such as antelope, zebra, springbok, giraffe, lions, gnu, hyenas, gembok, elands and kudus. Apart from the desert-like area of the Etosha Salt Pan, the park consists of Mopani Woodland and Savannah Grassland and also a large number of acacia trees.

The Big Island National Park has been declared an International Biosphere Reserve and is a World Heritage Site. The constant volcanic activities offer the opportunity to feel and discover the primal power of the earth. Many trails are available to visitors and friendly rangers are happy to provide information. The different vegetation zones offer nature the opportunity to create their own ecosystems. While the rainforest is lush in the northeast, a savannah-like landscape emerged in the south. The gray, inhospitable zone of the South Rift Zone is in stark contrast.
