In particolare influenzò tutte le opere che in seguito parlarono di dinosauri, a partire da King Kong e a finire con Jurassic Park. In questo romanzo viene introdotto un personaggio, il professor Challenger, che, come dice il none, è quasi all’opposto di Holmes, istintivo quanto quest’ultimo è riflessivo.
