Ivy, Mateo and Cal used to be close - best friends back in middle school. So when Cal pulls into campus late for class and runs into Ivy and Mateo, they decide to ditch school. Just like old times. But they're not the only ones ditching school that day. When Ivy, Cal and Mateo spot Brian 'Boney' Mahoney acting suspiciously downtown they follow him into an empty building and walk straight into the middle of a murder scene. With their day of freedom about to turn deadly, it's only a matter of time before everyone's secrets are revealed.

Ivy, Mateo und Cal waren einmal befreundet, jetzt haben sie nichts mehr miteinander zu tun. Aber als Cal zu spät zur Schule kommt und dort auf Ivy und Mateo trifft, ist das die Gelegenheit, eine alte Tradition wiederaufleben zu lassen: einen Tag blau machen. Bei ihrem spontanen Ausflug in die Stadt sichten sie zufällig einen vierten Schüler auf Abwegen und folgen ihm - mitten hinein in einen Tatort. Ivy, Cal und Mateo kennen den Toten, der vor ihnen liegt - und eigentlich sollten sie jetzt die Polizei rufen. Doch sie alle haben eine Verbindung zum Opfer. Und etwas zu verbergen.

Ivy, Mateo y Cal solían ser mejores amigos. Ahora todo lo que tienen en común es el Instituto Carlton y la casualidad de encontrarse una mañana cualquiera. Y es una mañana de las malas: Ivy acaba de perder las elecciones al consejo de estudiantes, Mateo hace malabares entre dos trabajos y a Cal le acaban de dar plantón, otra vez.
