A seriously ill man, who is firmly convinced that he has been cursed by three witches, asks Sherlock Holmes to investigate. Convinced that their client must have an explainable cause for his illness Holmes and Watson are traveling to Eastbourne to get to the bottom of this, before their client departs from life.

"The Red-Headed League" is one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It first appeared in The Strand Magazine in August 1891, with illustrations by Sidney Paget.
