This popular classic by Anna Sewell is the story of a beautiful black horse whose life is affected by the ever changing circumstances surrounding the lives of its various owners. Black Beauty spent her youthful days grazing in grassy meadows, with ponds of clear water, shade trees and apples. But life for her was not always meadows and shade trees, but a life of work and hoping some day soon to return to the meadows with her old friends under the apple trees.

When Black Beauty is trained to carry a rider on his back, or to pull a carriage behind him, he finds it hard at first.
