  • Bring Her Back (2025)
    Aug 25 2025

Following the surprise hit Talk To Me the Philippou Brothers return with their latest and most terrifying horror flick.

This film takes a very different tone to their first outing opting for a darker much more emotional narrative that honestly cerates a huge amount of tension and anxiety while watching.

We follow Piper and Andy as they find them selves living with a suburban necromancer foster mum after the death of their father and as you would expect things go sideways quickly.

As always this is a super balance review as me and Marc were unable to find common ground on this, we also have your views thrown into the mix for good measure.

  • The Last House on the Left (2009)
    Aug 4 2025

This week, we're delving into the dark and disturbing world of The Last House on the Left (2009), the controversial remake of Wes Craven's infamous 1972 exploitation classic. The film follows Mari Collingwood, a teenager who, after a chance encounter with a group of dangerous fugitives led by the menacing Krug, finds herself subjected to a horrific ordeal. When these same criminals unknowingly seek refuge at her parents' isolated lake house, her mother and father soon discover the truth and unleash their own brutal brand of vengeance.

Join Marc & I as we break down the film's unflinching violence, explore its potent themes of revenge and justice, and discuss whether this modern re-imagining successfully delivers on its promise of terror. We'll be dissecting how the 2009 version compares to the original, the intense performances that grounded the horror, and the uncomfortable questions the film raises about morality and how far one would go to protect their family. Our discussion will also explore the effectiveness of its graphic violence – is it gratuitous or essential to the narrative?

Trigger Warning: Due to the graphic nature of the themes discussed, including sexual assault and extreme violence, listener discretion is strongly advised for this episode.

Tune in for a chilling and thought-provoking discussion that might just make you lock your doors.

  • Labyrinth (1986)
    Jul 28 2025

Join The Horror Movie Maniacs Grant and Ben as they team with Marc to ruthlessly shatter Scott's cherished childhood memories of the beloved Jim Henson classic, Labyrinth!

For decades, Scott has clung to the notion that the 1986 fantasy epic is a beacon of pure, innocent magic, a whimsical adventure filled with catchy songs and memorable creatures. But prepare yourselves, because Grant and Ben are here to expose the truly unsettling, often predatory darker undertones lurking just beneath the film's enchanting surface.

In this eye-opening episode, we're not just re-watching Labyrinth; we're dissecting it with an adult, and perhaps slightly twisted, lens. The conversation kicks off by meticulously examining Jareth, the Goblin King, portrayed with iconic flair by David Bowie. While many remember him as a flamboyant, enigmatic rock star villain, Grant and Ben argue his true nature is far more sinister. They'll delve into his unsettling obsession with the 15-year-old Sarah, peeling back the layers of his manipulative charm to reveal a deeply possessive, almost predatory desire. Is Jareth merely trying to trick Sarah into staying, or is he actively trying to claim her, to make her his queen, bound forever to his labyrinthine domain? The hosts will dissect pivotal scenes like the "Magic Dance" and the infamous "As the World Falls Down" ballroom sequence, revealing how these visually stunning moments actually serve as potent metaphors for manipulation and psychological entrapment.

Now I am sure you are expecting us to sway in opposite ways on this movie but I guarantee not in the way you think. Mr "it's not horror, this isn't what I signed up for" loved this while Mr "its horror adjacent" is left regretting the decision to cover this.
