About this listen
One of the great joys of living just a few yards from the seashore is gathering food from the beach. As children, we would go to West Runton to collect winkles in little bags, often twisting ankles climbing over sharp flints covered in bladderwrack. We would have them for tea with bread and butter, using safety pins to remove them from the little shells.
