In October 2021, Emily Jean Schwarz Ferlazzo, a 22‑year‑old aspiring nurse and singer from New Hampshire, traveled with her husband Joseph Ferlazzo Jr., then 41, to Bolton, Vermont to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. During the trip, Joseph shot Emily twice inside their camper van, dismembered her body, and concealed the remains inside the vehicle’s bathroom. Later the next day, Emily’s family reported her missing after Joseph returned alone, claiming the couple had a fight and Emily got an Uber home.
