About this listen

Just a couple-a queerdos, eating fruit, trying to figure it out...

Weird Fruits is hosted by Stevie Mae (they/she) and Mary Lou (she/her), two queer Oregonian transplants from bumf*ck towns across the country. Throughout each episode, they literally eat fruit together while exploring choice topics, sometimes with guests.

StevieMary (a common colloquialism among their friend group) met in 2015 as co-workers at "the children's farm home" (a misleadingly idyllic name for residential kid jail). They grew closer and queerer as the years went on, embracing each other's capital W Weird. Their friendship has sustained hardship, discovery, and transformation.

"All fruits are weird fruits."

  • Spooky Fruits on Staying True
    Oct 29 2025

    Hey spooky fruits!

Let’s get real for a second — how do you show up in conflict? Are you reacting from old programming, or are you showing up as your authentic self?

In this week’s episode of Weird Fruits, MJ and Stevie Mae dive into the nervous system’s natural responses when tensions arise, and what it really takes to stay true to who we are in those moments.

We share stories of moments when we’re fully embracing and embodying our weird selves, as well as times we’ve drifted away from our integrity or essence.

We also offer a simple sound practice to help clear the cobwebs and realign with your true energy.

    Be true. Be you. Always.

P.S. You are forever welcome to our "funny bubble"

  • Weird Fruits Find Beauty
    Oct 5 2025

What does the word beauty evoke in you? What comes to mind when you think of true beauty—beyond the standards shaped by culture and society?

In this episode, Weird Fruits returns from our summer hiatus to explore how our beliefs about beauty have been formed, challenged, and evolved over time. Together, we’ll unpack what beauty means beneath the surface, with a somatic exercise to help us be present with beauty in its purest essence.

For a deeper exploration of how beauty standards intertwine with capitalism and colonialism, check out the brilliant Alok and their work on Instagram: @alok

  • Weird Fruits Represent
    May 25 2025

Grab a fruit and join us for our first ever Fruit and Tell! Not sure what that is? Neither were we.

In this episode, Marbear and Steve talk about their first ever representations into queer culture while growing up in small country towns. They also explore a somatic practice to reframe narratives from our inner critics when they tell us we don't belong.

Follow, like, share and tell us: who were your first queer representations? Who are your queeroes now?
