About this listen

In today's episode, we are sharing the enormous effort of many team leaders to get their young people to the Street Child Cricket World Cup. We hear from the SCU teams manager, Julia, and also team leaders Karen from Uganda, Jean-Marie from Rwanda and Phil from Burundi. Most teams face challenges to get identity, passports and visas for the street-connected young people. But this year, a few teams had an especially hard test of strength with barrier after barrier placed in their way. The Sounds of Street Child United is a daily podcast that takes you into the heart of our special events. The Street Child Cricket World Cup takes place 23rd - 30th of September 2023 in Chennai, India. Street Child United is a charity that uses the power of sport to provide a global platform for street connected children, so they can demand the protection, support, and opportunities every child needs.
