Noah Petersen was arrested twice in front of the Newton, IA City Council during his public comment period. Noah was critical of the Newton City Police Department and wanted reform. The Newton Mayor did not like Noah's perspective and had him arrested in back to back meetings. Noah filed a lawsuit claiming his 1st Amendment Rights were violated.

18 year old Jesse Mack Butler from Stillwater Oklahoma violently sexually assaulted two 16 year old girls, when he himself was 16-17. He pleaded 'no contest' in August 2025 to multiple violent sex crimes. He initially faced 78 years in prison for these crimes, as he was charged as an adult. But, Jesse was granted 'Youthful Offender' status by the prosecuting attorney and received NO PRISON TIME and only 1 year of probation. In December 2021, one of Jesse's victims filed to appeal the plea deal saying her rights were violated, and she was not properly consulted about the plea agreement.
