About this listen

Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter was an American-Canadian middleweight boxer who was wrongfully convicted of murder and later released after spending almost 20 years in prison. He inspired Mohammed Ali and Bob Dylan to campaign for him in 1976 with Dylan recording the iconic song 'Hurricane'.

50 years on from Carter's conviction BBC World Service and Steve Crossman and Joel Hammer spent 18 months investigating a case that was never truly solved, after uncovering unheard tapes of Carter. The Series was called The Hurricane Tapes and you can listen to the series here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w13xttt6
