 Nach Kafkas Tod reisten Kafkas Onkel Siegfried Löwy und sein Schwager Karl Hermann nach Kierling, um in bürokratischen Dingen zu helfen. Kafkas Leichnam wurde auf Doras Wunsch nach Prag überführt und dort am 11. Juni im Neuen Jüdischen Friedhof beigesetzt. Die Beerdigung war klein, es folgten zahlreiche Nachrufe.
