  • Laurissa Brooke Composer/Conductor
    Feb 17 2025
Laurissa Brooke is a composer and conductor based in Western Australia. Making her conducting debut with Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in 2022 and subsequently receiving regular engagements, Laurissa has received acclaim from musicians, critics and audiences alike. Laurissa held the position of Music Director for the South Side Symphony Orchestra (SSSO) (2018-2020), conducted multiple elite ensembles for the Department of Education’s Gifted and Talented music programmes (2012-2023) and was invited to be a guest conductor of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (METSO). The Tenth Muse Initiative recently engaged Laurissa as musical director for the Australian premiere of Rosśa Crean’s ‘The Priestess of Morphine’. In my chat with Laurissa we talk to her about how she started with her love of music and how important the human condition is in her work, and how she expresses it in her compositions.

  • Alexis Donkin- Former Senior Crime Reporter
    Feb 3 2025

Alexis Donkin is a determined, tenacious and highly intelligent individual. At a young age she had a passion for storytelling and had always wanted to be a journalist for Channel 7 She achieved her dream. However that dream takes a toll. To achieve her dream she worked with different networks and had to prove her self in a very male dominated industry and she excelled and became a Senior Crime Reporter at Ch 7. I was so thrilled to have Alexis share her journey, the ups like having a politician answering her question as a newbie and reflecting on the emotional toll of reporting crime and dealing with death and disaster on a day to day basis.
