La caccia è una pratica distintiva della nobiltà, e, come tutti i retaggi dell’Antico Regime, conosce gli strali del Settecento illuminista. Ma non scompare. Anch’essa, col suono dei suoi corni, diviene un “vocabolo”: indica natura, bosco, tempi antichi. Con il Romanticismo, le implicazioni positive di tale “vocabolo” si accresceranno (il cacciatore, nelle fiabe, è sempre salvifico), velandosi, col passar del tempo, di nostalgia. Ancora nel tardo Ottocento, Anton Bruckner saprà sfruttare, entro il linguaggio sinfonico, il potere evocativo della caccia.
