We are smack dab in the middle of our Superheroes Series: Spiritual Superheroes and their Trusty Sidekicks!!! This series explores the nuances of mentorship and the benefits of shared goals. Mentors will not always get it right, and mentees will not always get it on the first try, but prayer and patience will go a long way in the mentoring process. Pastor Jerry Doss helped us understand the importance of prayerfully seeking God for your mentor and the value of not getting caught up in looks or images. Apostle K. Jevon Chambers shared candidly about the power of learning to serve before you can lead. There is power in sweeping the floor (LOL). He also reminded us of the importance of being patient with the process. Paul found himself frustrated with Mark, but Barnabas saw in Mark what Paul could not and developed Mark into an amazing leader, with whom Paul would later affirm. However, mentorship is important to God, demonstrated throughout scripture, and essential to fulfilling the mission and kingdom of God. Mission and Ministry can be found when and where you least expect it. Sometimes, a mission and ministry emerge from a specific life experience; other times, they result from seeing a need around you that tugs at your heart.

For Madeline Hild, this week’s guest for Tuesday Tuneup, it resulted from a firsthand understanding that sometimes moms need a hand to do all of the amazing things they do. Madeline shares about being drawn to the mission of working with moms who feel overwhelmed, overworked, and are in need of respite. It was a tug that she could not shake, so she, along with Dana, began a chapter of the Hot Mess Express, allowing her to be the very hands and feet of Jesus!

Mia Dawson and Brenda Major, authors of ”The Advenutres of NEO,” are joining Tuesday Tuneup’s Mission & Ministry Series as we discuss of the way God will create mission and ministry out of life circumstances.

Where some may see a tragedy, dispair, or inconvience with an autism diagnosis, Mia saw an opportunity for mission and ministry--a chance to empower her son and other children as well as their families to see God as Lord over autism.
