• Ep. 97 - Belief vs Faith in Recovery and How Real Change Happens
    Dec 18 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Trudge Report. To kick things off Danny goes on a quick rant about people from snowy and cold states that annually act like they've never seen snow once it arrives, especially on the roadway. Greg gets in on the rant as well. We then have a spirited but brief debate over professional wrestling and how real or fake it really is. Shawn manages to offend Corey, which isn't difficult.

The recovery segment surrounds the idea of belief vs faith. Which comes first? How are both attained or or they innate? Each of us discuss how our perspectives of our Higher Powers evolved through sobriety from having experiential knowledge in different situations. The change we are after; does it occur immediately or is of the educational variety? Do we ourselves notice it first or is it noticed by others around before we become aware of it?

Don't stumble over something behind you.

  • Ep. 96 - Our Defining Moments of Letting Go & Corey Thwarts an Assassination Attempt
    Dec 11 2025

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Trudge Report. Join us this week as we recap our weekends and do a little favorite and least favorite Christmas movie around the horn. Greg has a new house guest and let us not forget that Corey almost became a national hero at a Christmas parade.

The recovery segment surrounds the idea of what can or cannot define our Higher Powers? We share some of our personal experiences and anecdotes as we were new in recovery and were given counsel by those who came before us. Does a person have to believe in a traditional deity or type of theology? Can nature or the Recovery Group itself be an adequate Higher Power? We discuss how our ideas of what we believe has been influenced by our upbringing and both negative and positive experiences. We finished the show with a personal segment of how each of us came to believe.

  • Ep. 95 - Kicking Off Christmas: Finding Gratitude and the Joy of Living in Sobriety
    Dec 4 2025

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Trudge Report. We kick off the show with a quick recap of how everyone's Thanksgiving was, along with some underrated and overrated takes on Thanksgiving food. The bulk of the episode surrounds the message we are sharing in recovery groups. Is it a message that should instill hope and courage in the newcomer or warning the newcomer about how hard sobriety is? Maybe it is a combination of both. If we bring the doom and gloom in a share, are we obligated to end on a positive note or bring a solution to the table? What is the message that will help keep the newcomer in recovery? These are some of the questions we tackle in this episode. We then switch to one of Cory's favorite topics, gratitude. Not just gratitude in the ordinary sense of the word, but the true and genuine Thanksgiving for the little stuff in our lives. The blessings that have been bestowed upon us and our sacred gifts from our Higher Powers.

“I try hard to hold fast to the truth that a full and thankful heart cannot entertain great conceits. When brimming with gratitude, one's heartbeat must surely result in outgoing love, the finest emotion we can ever know.” - Bill Wilson

  • Ep. 94 - Welcoming Rebecca Morgan: Former Foster Youth, Child Welfare Professional & Her Brothers Keeper
    Nov 27 2025

Hello everyone and welcome back to a very special Thanksgiving episode of Trudge Report. This week we take a break from the normal routine and welcome Rebecca Morgan to the show. Rebecca was a former foster care youth, current and long time child welfare professional, and someone who has addiction that runs rampant in her family. We first dive into her role as a child welfare professional and how she came to this line of work. Rebecca then shares her personal stories about entering the foster care system and being separated from her three brothers at age 15. She gives some background on the lead up to those events. Rebecca also shares about the addiction that was littered all through her family; from her father dying of a drug overdose, her mother's struggle with mental health and substance abuse, to her living brother who is homeless and on the streets. Rebecca gets raw and emotional in this episode. We thank her and praise her for the courage and commitment she has shown not only for her family but specially for herself.

We want to wish all of our listeners and supporters a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, wherever you may be.

  • Ep. 93 - Party's Over, Pal: An Honest Look Into The Beginning Of The End
    Nov 20 2025

Welcome back to this week's episode of Trudge Report. This week we tackle the important stuff right out of the gate; Corey turning 30 and Dan and Shawn's skating rink days.

The recovery topic this week continues to surround the idea of being powerless over drugs and alcohol, stopping on our own power, and what the needed Power really is that gets us sober. Am I an alcoholic or an addict because I drink or use too much? Or, is it what happens to me when I drink or use? We have discussions surrounding the mental obsession of the disease of alcoholism and addiction, as well as the phenomenon of craving and the physical allergy. We talk about what happens in our minds and in our physical bodies when we ingest drugs and alcohol. And naturally, Corey has a gripe.

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”

  • Ep. 92 - The Needle & The Damage Done: Barriers To Recovery
    Nov 13 2025

Hello good people and welcome back to another week's episode of Trudge Report. At the top of the show we discuss everything from snow in the midwest, fantasy football heartbreak, weird allergies, and viral plane crashes.

We then dive into the recovery topic, surrounding complete powerlessness over our addictions, and how none of us could stop on our own power or by the numerous methods we have employed. We discuss barriers to recovery that each of us faced, mostly those within ourselves. We talk about preconceived notions, both positive and negative, that we all had about getting sober. We mix in a few entertaining stories and then end with what kept each of us in Florida to get and stay sober.

Big shout out to all of the men and women that have served in our armed forces in honor of Veterans Day on November 11th. We thank each of you for your service and sacrifice.

If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.”

  • Ep. 91 - The Dirt: Lengths the Addict Goes for the Fix
    Nov 6 2025

Welcome back to another episode of Trudge Report. We kick off the show with a Halloween recap and a big shout out to game 7 of the world series. Then we bring you a harrowing, but hilarious, recap of some of the wild, grimy, and dishonest ways we were living in the months and years leading up to us getting sober. From embezzlement to homelessness to botched kidnapping schemes, we share our experiences in the throes of the disease and the wild ride the lifestyle can take a person on. Each of us delve back into our past and even though we make light of some of these events now, at the time they were tremendously sad and wretched. We lay the framework for a recovery program and the physical, mental, and spiritual bottoms that each of us have to hit in order to make the admission that we have a problem and we need help.

  • Ep. 90 - Stake Your Claim and Stake Your Victims: The Power of Positive Thinking & Slasher Film Deep Cuts
    Oct 30 2025

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Trudge Report. We welcome our good friend and long time listener officially and indefinitely to the podcast, Danny P. We are pumped to have him as part of the Trudge Crew. We go around the horn with a few quick takes on a variety of things before heading into an Emmet Fox reading, titled “Stake Your Claim." This is easily one of his more famous and well known readings and philosophies.

After that we transition into our last and final spooky topic for the Halloween season. Corey brings a brilliant idea of the origins of the slasher film and horror movies in general. We all get a quick history lesson on how the slasher film came to be and early pioneers in terms of creators and characters. Corey goes through the different styles of the horror movie throughout the decades up to what we have in the present day. We conclude this topic and spooky season with each of our top five power rankings on best horror villains. We hope you enjoy and happy Halloween to everyone. Be safe.

Some people are born for Halloween, and some are just counting the days until Christmas.
