1800's Siam was a time and place where royalty were godlike. Divine leaders who were not to be looked at, let alone touched. This strict law backfired one day when Queen Sunanda Kumariratana and her baby needed the help of onlookers. Breaking a law punishable by death wouldn't be on my to-do list either, to be fair.
