Given the Hawaii backdrop, I couldn't shake the feeling that this film was specifically designed for The Rock and Momoa - though it seems The Rock may have dropped out and Bautista stepped in. But that wasn't the case after all. Nonetheless, for a streaming action flick that was "#2 in the US" during my viewing, I must admit it exceeded my expectations. I did find the recurring gag of Momoa constantly drinking beers a bit cringeworthy - but I was able to overlook it. The chase sequences were fantastic, featuring gruesome, exaggerated deaths that you wouldn't normally encounter in action films, like a motorcycle rider having his head ground to bits at 80 miles per hour on the highway... or losing an entire arm... but it's all in good fun. At times, I felt reminiscent of Rush Hour 2 and 3, especially with the strong storyline involving Hawaiian and Asian crime lords.
