    Ram and Lakshman visit Dasarath, where Ram is told that he must go into exile for a period of 14 years to keep his father's promise to Kaikeyi.

    Ram agrees and bids farewell to Kaushalya. Sita refuses to stay alone in the palace and convinces Ram to take her along to the forest.
