The Shine Your Light Crew Podcast SHOW NOTES

    In this episode: -

Have you ever felt banished? –

    ban·ish

    /ˈbaniSH/

    verb

    1. to send (someone) away from a country or place as an official punishment.
    2. forbid, abolish, or get rid of (something unwanted).

Have you ever been kicked out of a group, or felt excluded?
What does it feel like to get kicked out of your social circle?

We often hear the phrase, “Find Your Tribe.”
For Indigenous people, belonging to a tribe and tribal identity is extremely important.

The tribe is the group that protects, feeds, houses, provides physical and spiritual sustenance, and reflects the moral compass of the group.

What if the tribe kicks you out?

Meet Tree, a remarkable, strong, and courageous woman. She is a mother of three, and of Native American birth, born and raised on an indigenous reservation in New Mexico. She is also the Creator and Host of the podcast Straight From the Roots.

It is my honor to introduce you to Tree. Her story is one of immense pain and struggle, but also incredible redemption. And when you meet her, she is now the Phoenix risen from the ashes. She is full of hope and despite all of the struggles she’s been through, she maintains a joyful spirit.

One of my goals when I created The Shine Your Light Crew Podcast, is to create a platform where people can shine their unique light and story out to the world. This is the first conversation I have ever had on the podcast and in my life with a woman who is Native American, born and raised on an Indian Reservation. I think you will feel how I felt during our conversation, so comfortable, like we’ve been friends for years, and just how much we have in common. I hope through her story, we can feel her pain and her victories, and through the conversation, help to heal parts of us that have felt or still feel banished and bring those parts of us back to wholeness.
