The Rainbow's Shadow

By: Cassandra D.
  • Summary

  • Using my story of surviving childhood trafficking to rich doctors (and other wealthy members of rural WV) and how it led to marrying a psychopath to educate others about the dangers of unresolved childhood trauma is a passion of mine. As the great, great, great, great granddaughter of Devil Anse Hatfield of WV (of the infamous Hatfield and McCoy's feud), I not only inherited immense resilience, but also a plethora of generational trauma. Through storytelling medicine, I'll share with you the details of my personal story in an effort to educate and disrupt the cycle of child trafficking. I'll eventually bring on guests to chat with me--both survivors and people who work in the field of saving children from trafficking, but in actionable ways. And what, you may ask, is the meaning of The Rainbow's Shadow? Well, it's a concept I framed when I was 19 years old, and to me it represents the fact that we think of children as bright, gorgeous Rainbow's. And indeed, they should be afforded the opportunity to simply exist and to grow and to be those proverbial Rainbow's. However, too often, these children have shadows of pain and trauma. Yet, because we don't believe Rainbow's have shadows, we often turn a blind eye and look the other way. Join me as we dive deep into the depths of the horror of this issue, child trafficking, that's still happening today, and it's happening all around us.

I've created this audio file to help guide you through panic, so that you can reconnect to and calm your body. The hope is that once the body is calm, it will signal to your mind that you are safe, and you can begin to emotionally process what needs to be considered. The body and the mind speak slightly different languages, and the body must feel safe before the mind can deconstruct. Many of the techniques I use in the meditation combine psychology, somatic principles, and even spirituality--combining these help you take the blinders off that happen during panic/cPTSD.If you find relief from this meditation, I also offer personalized, customized meditations based on your specific needs. Message me for more information!
