There are personal stories we hold close to our hearts, guarding and locking them away from the outside world because of pain, fear, and self-doubt. Often there’s personal shame and judgment tied to the story…or fear of being shamed or judged by others. Over time this can eat away at us and keep us stuck. It can keep us from growing, healing, and transcending beyond the pain.
Growth and healing can certainly be scary, messy, and uncomfortable in the beginning. However, it’s also liberating and beautiful…after a while, you're able to look back and see how far you’ve come. You’re able to soar to new heights you never even dreamed possible. Sharing your personal story has the power to help you begin to heal, but also to empower others to heal…to find the light and courage that they themselves haven’t yet found.
In this episode, we share the healing journey of a character from one of my short stories that finds forgiveness, healing, and liberation from the weight of his own story that has held him hostage for 40 years. Through sharing his story with an empathetic and kind stranger he finds the freedom and healing his heart and soul had been seeking for far too long. I invite you to let this episode encourage you to find your own healing through the power of storytelling.
