Complacency is deadly for a nation, it is even more deadly in the lives of disciples, for complacency is a spiritual killer.
Complacency invites idolatry. Idolatry is the elevation of anything to a status that rivals or replaces obediences to the one true God.
Idolatry is not just about carved imagines, biblical idolatry speaks to the human tendency to elevate created things above the Creator, to seek ultimate meaning and security in temporal rather than eternal realities.
Any choice to act contrary to the Word of God that is a manifestation of Idolatry.
