Dan, Manny, & Billy pull the curtain back on the podcast on this Nostalgia Test Mini Episode & put several Nostalgia Test Tangents to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST!

“What the f**k is this podcast about anymore?” -Dan

Right before the gang recorded 168. Nostalgia Test Now! ZombieCon Vol.1, they had this tangent filled conversation that started at Legos and made a full-circle return to Legos, all while covering nostalgic topic after nostalgic topic. This is what happens when Dan hits the record button early and they just let it fly. It’s an intimate look behind the curtain of 3 longtime friends hanging out.

So, sit back and hangout with Dan, Manny, & Billy “backstage.”

    Feb 3 2026

Dan, Manny. & Billy put the 1993 Bill Murray comedy mind f**k Groundhog Day to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST!

“There's a quote that [Bill Murray] says, he's like, I killed myself so many times. I don't even exist anymore.” -Manny

Well, the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday which means 6 more weeks of winter! You know what that means campers, “rise and shine! And don’t forget your booties ‘cause it’s cold out there today.” This was a really fun episode, and the guys get into so many of the layered rumors, conspiracies, multiverses, and quotables from this classic 1993 comedy. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll get confused, and you’ll feel like it’s happening over and over again. People, this is what nostalgia is all about, chillin with your best friends and making up alternate universes for a movie late into the night.

So grab your favorite furry friend, invite a group of nerds over, and grab a hot toddy, because there’s 6 more weeks of winter and The Nostalgia Test Podcast is going nowhere.

  • 174. 🧊 Cool As Ice (1991) w/ Chris Aguis
    Jan 21 2026

Dan & Manny welcome NYC based Producer Christopher Aguis (and Dan’s cousin) to put the 1991Vanilla Ice “movie” Cool as Ice to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST!

“If you ever hear of a tape that kills you in seven days, watch it on repeat. Watch it instead of [Cool as Ice].” -Manny

Dan, Manny and their guest Chris embark on a ridiculous 90s misadventure and attempt to make sense of Vanilla Ice’s action/musical/comedy/uncomfortably psychedelic “movie” Cool as Ice. Seven months after dancing his way through Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze, someone that we all needed more Vanilla, when in reality no one needs or wants more vanilla. The gang tries to unpack the so-called plot of the movie, what’s going on in this insane town, the confusing and intricate cinematography by the world-renowned and award-winning Janusz Kamiński, and what’s up with that scene where Vanilla is feeding ice cubes to a teenage girl after he breaks into her bedroom? There’s also the signature Nostalgia Test Tangents, Rocky Ranking, and Chris & Dan reminisce going to see the Ninja Turtles in concert on their “Coming Out of Our Shells” tour.

So grab your parachute pants, shave some lines in the side of your head, and drop those zeroes to get with the Nostalgia Test heroes, because this one is peak 90s.

  • 173.🐦‍⬛The Crow (1994) w/ Matt Landis
    Jan 13 2026
Dan, Manny, & Billy welcome back Matt Landis to put the 90s classic The Crow & its soundtrack to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “I mean, that might be the most tragic thing about the legacy of this film, not Brandon [Lee] dying, but the inception of Jared Leto.” -Matt Landis Matt Landis returns after his unbelievable appearance on episode 135.🏫 Nostalgia 101: 90s Swing Revival & Punk Ideology to do a dep dive into the 1994 action/horror film The Crow starring the late Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott, & the incomparable Bai Ling. There’s a huge takedown of Jared Leto, a lovefest for Ernie Hudson, and the guys go through some of their favorite scenes and one-liners. Also, what’s up with Ernie Hudson’s apartment décor?! There’s also some amazing tangents about the emotional depth of Grunge music, the ridiculous money grabbing objectification of nostalgia by Hollywood, and let’s get into Blade Runner for no reason at all. The guys also take time to discuss the soundtrack to The Crow and its impact and legacy. In the end they put the movie and the music to the ultimate test and have some fun dunking on the unsuccessful sequels and the horribly insulting reboot. And we can’t forget the Jean-Claude Van Damme tangent! So, grab your corpse paint, pull out your favorite trashcan for a classic 80s/90s trashcan fire, and get ready to have a dark and fun time with your longtime friends Dan, Manny, & Billy.
