  • North Dakota Weather 3/8 Midday - Wind Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. North Dakota. I'm Matt Mullins. Spring's crashing the party today with a vengeance. We've got a Wind Advisory until 7 P.M. and temperatures that'll make you question the calendar. Bismarck takes the crown at 68 degrees this afternoon. West winds gusting to 32 miles an hour. Fargo sits at 60 with southwest winds at 17. Up in Grand Forks, you hit 59, but hold onto your hats — west winds are screaming at 30 miles an hour with gusts to 43. That's the kind of wind that rearranges your trash cans. Tonight? Everything changes. A cold front drops south through the evening, dragging scattered rain and snow showers with it. Northern areas could see mixed precipitation between 6 P.M. and 10 P.M. Then the bottom falls out. Lows crash to the upper 20s statewide — 32 in Fargo, 29 in Bismarck, 26 up north. Winds flip northwest behind the front. Monday turns the page completely. Highs struggle to reach the upper 30s. Eastern areas get mostly sunny skies with a high of 39. Central North Dakota starts partly sunny, then snow chances develop after 1 P.M. — about a coin flip, with light accumulation possible. Northern areas stay mostly cloudy with highs near 33. Monday night through Tuesday brings our best shot at accumulating snow — 1 to 2 inches possible in the east, lighter amounts elsewhere. Highs stay in the upper 30s Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday warms back to the 40s and 50s with another round of rain and snow likely. The week ends cooler with additional snow chances Friday through Saturday. If you're enjoying the warmth today. Winter's not done yet. See you this evening.

  • North Dakota Weather 3/8 Morning - Wind Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside right now and you'll feel something weird for early March. We're running nearly 40 degrees warmer than normal. Bismarck hits 68 degrees this afternoon. Fargo climbs to 60. Minot reaches 59. That's spring preview weather in the first week of March. But here's the catch. This warmth comes with a price. The wind is absolutely howling today. Gusts reach 48 miles an hour up north, 38 miles an hour through central areas. A Wind Advisory runs until 7 P.M. For western and central counties. Secure anything loose outside — trash cans, patio furniture, your neighbor's trampoline. This wind will move it all. Tonight, the script flips fast. A cold front crashes through from north to south, bringing rain showers that mix with snow up north. Lows drop to the mid to upper 20s statewide. That's a 40-degree temperature crash in 12 hours. Monday brings the payback for today's warmth. Highs fall to the upper 30s with a 50 percent chance of accumulating snow in central areas. One to two inches possible by Tuesday morning. Tuesday stays cloudy with lingering snow and highs in the upper 30s again. Wednesday offers a break — mostly sunny, low 40s. Thursday warms back to the low 50s, but another system brings rain and snow chances. Friday turns colder with highs in the low 30s and continued snow potential into next weekend. One more thing — spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour at 2 A.M. You lose an hour of sleep, but you gain evening daylight. See you this afternoon.

  • North Dakota Weather 3/7 Evening - Wind Whiplash Warning
    Mar 8 2026
Good evening. North Dakota. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside and you might do a double take. Because this feels like late April, not early March. We're sitting at 43 degrees right now — a whopping 20 degrees above normal — under gray skies. It's a wild start to the weekend. Eastern North Dakota climbs to 62 by afternoon. Central North Dakota is even toastier at 67. Up north, you'll see highs near 60. But you'll not just feel the heat. You'll hear it. Southwest winds howl between 14 and 31 miles an hour. Gusts could hit 38 miles an hour in the center of the state. Tonight brings a weird twist. Temperatures actually rise overnight. Lows only dip to the mid 30s in the east and central, while the north holds in the upper 20s. You might see a few rain showers, but nothing heavy. Sunday is the peak. We hit 62 in the east, 67 in central North Dakota. And 60 up north. But don't get used to it. A cold front sweeps through in the evening, sending temperatures crashing. That front brings rain, possibly mixing with snow up north. The wind stays the main story. A Wind Advisory kicks in at 10 A.M. For western and south-central North Dakota. Gusts could hit 50 miles an hour. Secure the trash cans and patio furniture now. Fire danger is high south and west of the Missouri River. The rollercoaster keeps going this week. Monday highs struggle to hit 40. We're tracking our first real chance of accumulating snow — an inch or two possible in central and southern North Dakota. The rest of the week stays unsettled with highs in the 30s and 40s and repeated chances for flurries. Enjoy the spring tease today, folks. Winter comes back with a vengeance on Monday. See you tomorrow.

  • North Dakota Weather 3/7 Morning - Sudden Summer Surprise
    Mar 7 2026
Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you might think April arrived early. We’re looking at a serious warm-up today, with highs soaring into the 50s and even 60s. That’s running a solid 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. It feels like spring decided to skip the line. But don't be fooled. This is a temporary teaser before winter comes roaring back. Here’s the setup statewide: Eastern North Dakota hits 52 degrees today under mostly sunny skies. You’ll feel south-southwest winds between 14 and 20 miles an hour. That breeze drops the "feels like" temp to about 20 degrees this morning, so you'll still want a jacket. You’ve got a chance of light rain before 10 PM tonight. Sunday gets even warmer at 62 degrees, but temperatures crash during the afternoon. By Monday, you’re back to 40 degrees with snow possible by evening. Central North Dakota, you’re the warmth winner today at 54 degrees. Watch for a slight chance of rain this afternoon. Sunday is your golden day — 68 degrees and mostly sunny. Tonight, temperatures actually rise into the 40s overnight as warm air surges north. Enjoy it, because Monday drops to 40 degrees with snow returning. Northern North Dakota is cooler but still mild at 49 degrees. Southwest winds could gust up to 41 miles an hour — that’s enough to make driving tricky. Sunday brings 59 degrees, but winds howl from the west at 30 miles an hour, gusting near 45. Monday brings a reality check: 36 degrees and snow chances overnight. In Here’s your week ahead, sunday night, a cold front sweeps through, dropping lows into the 20s and 30s. Monday and Tuesday stay cold with highs struggling to hit 40 and light snow possible — maybe 1 to 2 inches. We see a brief rebound Thursday near 50 degrees, then another cooldown Friday. In One warning, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for areas south and west of the Missouri River today and Sunday. With those strong winds and dry conditions, any outdoor burns could get out of hand fast. If you're a farmer, the ground is still too frozen for planting, but this warmth won't help the ice conditions on the lakes. We gain 3 minutes and 21 seconds of daylight today, but don't pack away the scraper yet. Charge your phone tonight. That cold front Monday will drain batteries fast. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.

  • North Dakota Weather 3/6 Morning - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 6 2026
Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel it. That damp, foggy chill sitting at 30 degrees. But don't get comfortable. A cold front is barreling through. And it's bringing a messy mix with it. Here's the play by play. Western North Dakota, you're first up — light snow this morning with minor accumulation. Central areas, your window is 7 A.M. To 2 P.M. Expect snow and breezy northwest winds around 15 miles an hour. Eastern North Dakota? You're dealing with patchy freezing drizzle and fog through noon, then drizzle picks up between 1 P.M. and 6 P.M. Any ice makes surfaces slick — take it slow if you're driving. Temperature wise, it's a split story. Western areas climb to the mid 30s. Eastern regions start mild in the upper 30s but nosedive to the upper 20s by afternoon as that cold air rushes in. Northwest winds gust to 26 miles an hour, making it feel brutal. Wind chills drop to 19 degrees in central areas this morning and 19 degrees out east by midday. That's the kind of cold that bites. Tonight, skies clear and winds ease. Lows fall to the low 20s statewide. Now here's where it gets interesting. Saturday brings sunshine and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Sunday? Even warmer — 59 degrees with breezy southwest winds. That's well above normal for early March. But Monday starts pleasant at 42, but snow returns Monday night with 1 to 2 inches possible. Tuesday stays cloudy near 40 with more snow likely. Wednesday clears out in the low 40s. And by Thursday we're back to mid 40s with a slight chance of snow. Today, folks. This cold snap has teeth. See you tomorrow.
